JKBOTE, which is an acronyn for J&K Board of Technical Education came into being as an individual entity under the Directorate of Technical Education in 1981. Subsequently it was transformed into an autonomous body by an Act of 2002, of the then State Legislature. The dimensions of work performed by JKBOTE has incremented manifold over the years with a boost in the number of courses offered by the Polytechnics with a simultaneous escalation in the number of institutions in the state.
